Dog Mountain is a popular, and strenuous, trail in the Columbia River Gorge, especially in the spring when the wildflowers are in bloom. The hike starts on the north (or Washington State) side of the river, climbing through a fir forest, the trail zig zagging up and up until you approach these wide-open meadows with stunning views of the countryside, Columbia River below, Cascade mountains in the distance and wildflowers at your feet. The tippy top is in sight in this photo at the right upper corner, we are almost there!
