A lone hiker, ice pick in hand, gives perspective to the massiveness of the Perito Moreno Glacier in Argentina. The Glacier is part of the Southern Patagonia Ice Fields, it is east of the Andes Mountains and empties into Lake Argentino. The dense blue ice appears static, calm, surreal, but there is tremendous action, and noise, creaking, and cracking as chunks of ice crash into the lake, a very dynamic scenario. Overall the glacier is growing, or at least in equilibrium, a bit mysterious to scientists in a world where most glaciers and ice fields are shrinking. I encourage you to read more about its status, history, and "rupture "cycle, and visit ,if you can.
