Description

The Great Wall of China is a series of fortifications along the northern border of China. The first sections were built as early as the 7th century BC, but later many dynasties built and maintained many stretches. The most well known were built by the Ming Dynasty( 1368-1644). Apart from defense other purposes included border control, trade, immigration, transportation corridor. Collectively The Great Wall spans over 12,000 miles, and is recognized as one of the most impressive architectural feats.
