The lotus flower holds great symbolism in Egpytian ancient history. It was the flower of Upper Egypt or Old Kingdom, symbolizing creation, purity or rebirth. It was a symbol of the sun,closing at night and going beneath the water and at dawn climbing back up and opening.. The lotus is depicted in many hieroglyphics, especially as gifts at funerals, as a symbol for the immortality of the soul, rebirth.
It continues to be revered for fragrance, essential oils, and perfumes.
