Tiger's Nest, or Paro Taktsang, is a prominent Himalayan Buddhist site. It was officially established in the 8th century as a meditation cave and formally built as a monastery in 1692.
It has become the cultural icon of Bhutan.
This monastery is 10 kilometers north of Paro, Bhutan and hangs on a precipitous cliff at 10,240 feet .There are several ways to access the complex, most notable is access from the north called "Hundred Year Fairies" (Bumba). The hike travels over a rocky plateau through pine forests, and waterfalls. Often the monastery is shrouded in mist or fog. There is a wonderful view point across a ravine to experience this eerie, scenic, spiritual experience. The temple and cave are open for visitation as well

Hello! My name is Leslie Struxness. I have been a photographer for more than 15 years. I...
